Winter weather, exploding trees and a simple cookie recipe

My gramma used to read the *papers* .

The Weekly World, Enquirer etc.... loyally every week.

She would cut out articles and send them to my mom or

hang them on her fridge.

This reminded me of something she would post:

And yet it is TRUE!

Yes, this really is a thing.

The catastrophe that is everything now has made us a bit numb to actual

weird but true things that do happen, albeit rarely.

I have to say, I am not like my gramma in that way.

I do purchase *the papers* from time to time just to see if

Bat Boy is still around... lol! But with so many years of my life

dotted with ACTUAL horrible situations, I do not look for them

certainly. I rarely trust most anything I read off of the internet

without doing my own deep dive... even then I am wary.

Things change quick in this climate we all live in.

I refuse to hang my hat on a tidbit I read in passing that has been

passed around the internet.

But hey! even this weird but true post above proved to be real!

( I looked it up!)

( one of 25 sources I looked into)

🤷🏻‍♀️

Who Knew?

##

Moving onto the doom posting about the storms that will be

funnelled up the pipeline by our evil overlords ... I mean we used to

call it Winter back in the day.

Am I prepared, you betcha! I am Bob's daughter after all!

I was born prepping for whatever seasonal weather comes at me.

( or for the end of the world for that matter- I did take the Fox Fire courses)

Today we did wake up to a few more inches of snow, just to freshen it up.

( we have 4 inches of snow on the ground)

Add in the 12 inches predicted for the weekend and the (27)

projected for next weekend...well we may be at the 3 foot level

we were at when my husband brought me to first see Stone Hollow!

I remember rolling around on top of the ice coated snow to get around.

I also vowed never to never live here.

LOL!

... and here I am!

I love the snow.

It makes it so quiet and still here.

Less people and more critters.

I get to find out what is hanging around the coops...

I have to say living in a hollow where the snow totals are way less

( because the clouds go by too fast) or way over projection ( the clouds get stuck in the hollow)

it different than living at the coast. But I have made my peace with it.

I get all cozy , stack a few books, load the inside wood holder, neatly in the flocks,

grab some hot coco and enjoy it for what it is.

I do have snow shoes which I hope to use this weekend.

But this season is for rest, it is for going inward and just being instead of doing.

I am okay with that.

I will be making some cookies for the big guy though who will be out there plowing and

sanding and fighting the elements.

Simple recipe.

( I use Cup4Cup GF flour)

I also use whatever butter I have from the farmers wife.

She makes balls of either salted or unsalted and I use them both

for everything.

BUT I did not know this....

I can always learn something!

Happy Thursday friends.

Enjoy the day and the prep for the lovely seasonal weather we will be having .

AND of course...avoid those exploding trees!

LOL!

Bless you,

Raven

xoxo
