It is Friday here and I have to say this week was
a gentle one on me. I am grateful for that.
A week where I just enjoyed the days as they rolled out.
Yesterday was farm day where I pick up our food for the week
and I had to stop by Tractor Supply.
( Had to ....may be a stretch here)
Anyway... Look at what I found!
I mean, how adorable is he?
I just had to have him....
I am NOT pushing Fall in any way though.
You know how I am about living in the season we are in.
Now the coops will be all set with their Fall decor!
Speaking of.....
I have corn ripening and I have no idea when you pick it.
If anyone knows, let me know.
First year I actually got corn!
I will also save on buying stalks for decorating the house.
My sunflowers are just starting as well.
I have the chocolate sunflowers a bit behind these, my Stone Hollow ones.
Next year I will be growing them all over the property.
I forgot how happy they are and how they make me smile.
With just one tiny seed you can plant food for the birds and grow such beautiful flowers.
They are strong and resilient .
2027 will be the year of the sunflower!
As we mosey into August I will be slowly adapting my daily schedule to the seasons.
Do any of you do this?
I will go out to the flocks a bit later in the am, but stay with them in the evenings until dusk.
I love summer evenings, the glow of the last of the sunset while I pick blackberries,
the quiet honking of the geese on the falls...OH I adore it all and I will not squander it.

I have a beautiful Elderberry tree in my upper pasture.
Every year I have to beat the red squirrels and chipmunks to the berries.
( it is a fierce battle)
But I do always manage to get some and I make this syrup.
In the winter months I use it in my tea when my indoor allergies start up
or when I start my work on the train.
I never get enough berries to last the entire winter,
however I just saw a new 3' high sapling growing under
my tree so perhaps next year I will gather more.

The sun is out here, a bit filtered but I will take it.
Time to weed after all of that rain!
