September.
Oh do you feel it?
How the Fall just snuck up in here and decided that
it was time to begin its magic?
Like Autumn, life has kicked up a notch for me.
The slow, lazy days of early morning chores at daybreak
that melted into bat filled, moonlit evenings out on the patio
are changing, though the Viking & I still grab whatever we can
of the warmth & light of this season.
New England is so variable yet predictable in its slow
change of seasons. This one has us dragging ourselves
inside earlier and earlier even though it seems just yesterday
that we were out until after 9pm.
I love September. As I have said, it is my New Years.
It is the start of new routines with new goals that keep me grounded.
Will I visit my hometown beach now that the *summer people*
have gone?- yes. It is my favourite time to be there.
Will I still cycle some summer corn, hot dogs and ice cream
into my weekly suppers? - yep.
What about you all?
How do you move from one season to the next?
Labor Day, School starting.....it all happened so fast!
Nothing makes me happier than hearing that bus early ( before 6am!) pass by
every morning. It reminds me of a time that was so lovely.
( can you tell that I always loved school?)
But I also miss the charm in everything as well.
Old school was better. It just was.
We let children be children - despite the rhetoric out there.
What we have now is a generation of entitled brats whose
parents established no boundaries because they felt guilty
themselves by being told they had to work in order to
be a *fully fulfilled* woman.
We belittled motherhood and at the
same time let big corporations take over our educational systems, health, financial
stabilities and faith.
The same narratives get pushed today and most
people are sleepy to it.
However, there is a tide turing.
A very strong tide of folks waking up to the nonsense.
What we have focused upon as a society for the past
50 years- that I have been aware of ... has been carefully
orchestrated for us all.
Nothing organic.
Your likes, your political views,
your tastes in clothing and food.
Unless you were part of the sub-culture who pushed back or simply
did what you wanted regardless, you have been told for the
most part who you are and how your life will be.
Think on that.
Not me.
Not my Viking ( certainly!) and neither did any of my family
succumb completely to any of that....one or 2 may be walking the line
but inside they were raised with 2 parents who bucked the trends in everything.
We are both very strong willed in very different ways.
Plus, we became what you may call orphans as young adults raising our own.
Web had to rely upon our own selves for a lot of what others take for granted.
Our business, our teams, our ability to adjust and pivot just us two made
it easier I guess to ignore anyone else with an opinion.
We were just surviving the best we could...in hindsight- it was a blessing.
*****************
In the past 5 years we have seem this *test* play out.
Those who would do whatever they were told vs rebels who refused based upon
their inner values. I watched as people , one by one decided that whatever
they were told to hate, they should - without cause, without even having any
part in whether they honestly hated or rejected the people or ideas.
Some, like me...grew braver over time because it was just so obvious to me
that so many things just did not make logical sense.
I am still perplexed at the levels of insanity people are STILL
going along with.
Regardless, we are here.
This is where the wheat and the chaff get separated .
Me?
I want more charm, less garish in your face loudness.
I wish for civility and conversation.
The people who have maintained their views without tearing others down
will be the leaders of tomorrow and going forward.
They do not need to insult to get a point across, they lean in and listen
and try to actually hear anothers voice. They stand up to bullies and refuse to
align with any ideology. They are their own people.
They are the next generation that will heal.
My advice if you are one of them:
Ignore the negatives and listen to your own inner intuition.
The day will come soon when they will either have to admit they were wrong
or quietly sit back down and let the healers do their work.
We have spent a loooooooooong while working on ourselves, haven't we?
We begin the season to action and to a calling greater than ourselves.
Our communities have been devistated by poorly run ideologies,
hurting the working man & woman. We pay for the corporations to get
wealthier while paying a mandated charity we were not consulted upon.
My electric bill is easily 3-4x the amount it was 5 years ago.
Have you checked the *fees* and *charges* lately?
No one in office cares to help. They roll folks from one agency to
another placing blame and giving non answers .
If you live in my state, you should be angry about this.
( not some trending issue you were told to care about)
This one affects you & your ability to care for your family.
I once believed that politicians would get right on these
topics and help us...after all we voted them in.
However, they do not. They side with the huge companies.
I can only speculate why.
**************
I am comforted to know that change is coming, whether
people like it or not. It always does. Like the seasons we
ride the good and bad of every phase and in the end what matters
is whether you kept your values intact, whether you still kept your
compassion and that your inner voice helped you evolve into a better you.
New England weather is fickle.
So today I will ( in addition to a few other notable things) be bringing out
the warmer clothing to darn, wash or donate.
This year I purchased a new coat ( a Freepeople dupe off of Amazon) and warm boots
( Uggs on sale last June ...but super cute) for the first time in 7 years?
I have lots of mittens & hats...but they are filled with holes and wear
spots no longer mendable . This year I will thin the herd of mismatched mittens
and shoes that no longer work or make sense.
If I do it now, I will not be scrabbling once that first frosty morning comes and
the water pump is frozen and the chicken yard is encased in ice.
Suppers are still on the patio but I and morphing to a different
menu. We eat after long days of travel and work so a nice hearty
meal is starting to be added to the menu.
Chilli and stuffed sandwiches, pork chops and baked potatoes,
Mac & cheese and shepherds pie.... they replace the lighter
foods but not the veggies completely as I bring in carrots,
cabbage, squash and the last of the corn.
We try and eat seasonally.... as much from local growers as we can.
Eggs are always on the menu & so versatile .
With our intermittent fasting lifestyle we sometimes only eat one big meal
a day.... a good hearty one is necessary.
shape can be anything you wish, even cut really small for children.
Todays edition was sure packed with all sorts of things.
I hope that you like this new format...a way to add a meaningful
focus to subjects that I feel need illumination as well as
helpful ideas that make your day happier and easier.
We are vessels of ethereal light that radiates all over our worlds.
God never meant for us to accept what is not meant for us.
This is the time for those who sat back waiting for change while
also living life's normal issues. We just wanted to be left alone in peace.
We were never weak or cowardly.
We gave unworthy people the benefit of the doubt.
It is our time to just be us.
To shine like no tomorrow in the lights that allow us to lift up the
misery and despair of this world.
Stand in your truth friends .
I am right beside you.
Bless you,
Raven
xoxo
