rainy pondering.....

We have a dank and rainy summers day.

This will force me back inside to work on projects abandoned

back in April.

Fine with me.

We have the guys here to re-plaster the ceilings due to the

water leak from the hvac units from the power surge.....

Anyway, I am happy when these things can get crossed off of

my list. Maintaining an historic antique property

is a labor of love with constant maintenance .

Hopefully the next generation of owners will love

it as much. But it is our responsibility to get it there.

( this photo is of the first to second floor staircase before we moved in)

Here is my daily rant.... not a rant really but a way of thought.

I am tired of seeing memes and posts lamenting about how men suck

by women who equally do.

I do not see it as a men/ woman thing...

but that is my weirdness.

I see it as a human being thing.

If you are rude, if you are crass and a jerk than you are.

Yes, I am aware that through my life there was a tiered system of pay

and women could not buy cars, homes etc.... or vote!

But now a days... no one would put up with that garbage.

From anyone.

So why still make that division of hate a thing?

My family came here from a place that highly regarded men

above women. A women's worth was tied to the men in her life.

Her father, brothers, husband and sons.

3 generations later in the good old USA, we now have more rights than

any of my relatives had.

I will not debate that..... it is a fact.

The women who wish to stir up the pot are the same liberal arts

girls who were taught in *womens studies* classes

that men have been the issue in all problems, household, world......

and that it is still that way.

Unless you let it happen.... by allowing the same

societal rules that my family left behind ..... then, no.

We are free here. We all have rights granted from birth as citizens

of this country equally and there are many fine attorneys who understand constitutional law

who can enforce that.

This is why folks risk everything to come here....

It is a rare thing these gifts we have as a nation.

Back to how we speak to our young men....

You possessed all the skills necessary to change that narrative.

What they did not tell you in college is that YOU are raising the next generation

of men.

( even if you do not yourself  have children, you may be an auntie or neighbor to them)

If you want kinder men, raise them that way.

If you want men who respect the unique gifts woman bring to the world,

raise them that way.

When women have such low opinions of all men it sends such a disparaging

message to our sons and grandsons.

I hate that for them.

I place immense value upon the years that we have our sons and grandsons

in our lives, fully ours... not the worlds.

These are the building block years that matter.

It sets the stage for who they become and what they will value.

I suppose this also lends itself to the idea that in our homes we should

raise up our family as well.

Perhaps a post for another time, but I believe that when we

focus upon the strengths and positive attributes of those we love instead of

looking for what divides us, our families are stronger and the future

for our grandchildren is brighter.

I look to raise up my viking every day.

I know we have been drenched in *men suck* mentality,

but I wanted to be clear that they do not.

That strong, caring men are first taught to be that way.

Your words matter

****************

Just my pondering on this grey day.

Now, I will have a pot of beef stew on the stove for the guys and

my viking but I will also enjoy my first local tomato sandwich.

Cheese or cream cheese....that may be the question.

On this rainy inside day...I can find sunshine in something.

This is sunshine on bread.

I always have found comfort in a good sandwich.

Or a ploughman's lunch.....yum!

Lately, I have cut out bread unless it is gf sourdough.

It seems to not inflame my joints.

Moderation is best in everything I am learning.

Well it is time for me to start on those projects.

May you have a sparkling day!
