Can we please have a moment for the email that I received
yesterday wanting me to discuss how people have become
so incredibly rude over the years?
They stated that even in the best of situations, people
have lost the ability to self regulate their emotions
and the way they handle even the smallest conflict.
I agree.
I have seen it escalate with each passing month.
I do believe that when we allowed it to be ok,
like during the pandemic it then became an acceptable
way to address issues usually met with a bit of
maturity.
Screaming AT people, USING CAPS TO STATE YOUR POINT,
Talking over others, The hand...you know, when the hand comes up-
no listening is happening at all.
Name calling, belittling...on & on.
( especially the name calling, like that ever healed relationships)
It can make one want to recoil inside and never interact again.
However,
I also believe that the pendulum will swing once again
and folks will begin to understand that in order to
communicate in a way we all can benefit from, we
need to listen more, and take 70% of emotion out of
our everyday interactions.
The 5 alarm fire people from 10 years ago will
always be the 5 alarm fire people.
You can not change that.
Two options: see that as how they are and just
adjust your reactions accordingly or ignore them when
the *OMG!!!!* starts to happen.
After all, we are trying to come together, not cause
further divisions.
We can not stoop to their levels of immaturity.
That is just who they are.
They lack the self knowledge and the ability to self regulate.
That is a their problem and not a you problem.

Now, let us talk about being sassy, snarky and being purely honest and not
letting the elephant in the room linger....
I can be all of those things.
It is the discernment that I had drummed into me by
my mom, mentors, self help programs and therapy that
taught me how to pocket those witty & sometimes brutal
words when I feel them bubbling up.
Sassy can be darling, especially if you have a southern accent.
* Bless her heart*
Honest , though accurate needs more of that discernment sauce than
you would think. Saying what you think may make you feel better
but may hurt others unintentionally.
The elephant thing.... still working on.
I am that person who will not beat around the bush when
it becomes clear that the elephant is not only in the room
it is pooping everywhere and going through your medicine cabinet.
I am not perfect.
I pray for patience with myself daily.
Okay we have addressed that topic and I hope that it helped my reader at least.
Let us sum it up:
Do not be rude.
You can be a little sassy....
Learn discernment if you have no clue...
Learning how to regulate emotions is a game changer.
I am still working on my snark, sass, *well, will you just look at that* traits.
Progress not perfection.
I hope that you all had a great 4th!
Ours was perfection. Yes, I can say that because it really was.
Up early with the sun, out there with my flocks, on to a Jamboree at a local church
that has a thrift sale, bake sale, strawberry shortcake, ( I had a GF sausage) ,
entertainment ( though the woman singing was not professional in any way,
and she stopped frequently to spout all sorts of rhetoric that had nothing to do with the event
, ~the National Anthem was wonderful though ๐บ๐ธ)
There was also a book sale & a parade.
Charming, New England at it's best.
I found treasures.
A sweet vintage looking decor item, some vintage lace and hand thrown pottery.
Then we came home to do some chores and BBQ a few steaks.
Fireworks were planned but by that time we just blew off ones
we purchased a few years back that I found cleaning out the garage.
Ended the day with a fresh berry trifle watching the National Fireworks
on television.
Like I said, it was a perfect day with my love.

Now that the 4th is over... we are onto fair season!
Already planning on attending 3.
Perhaps I will enter some things this year.
I had no idea they judged eggs.
My customers say I have the best eggs so ...maybe?
I adore the truck & tractor pulls, the animals of course and
just the sea of folks having fun...maybe the fries- yep. The fries. ;)
The local corn season is getting there.
๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ
You all know that I love it and have it nearly every
night during the season. Though this year being keto , I will have to watch my macros.
Still.... it is just around the corner!
Let us celebrate with one of my favorite corn recipes!
Mexican Street Corn
Now to tend to some bigger flock chores....
The weather is perfect right now!
Get out there and enjoy it!
xoxo
