Good Morning.
Ah! Autumn in New England....
frosty mornings and 80* afternoons!
That is what we can expect for today.
I am okay with that.
I can still soak up the vitamin D.
I can get those hard outdoor chores and winter prep
items off of my list with ease.
I may hose off a large rug and leave it to dry in the sunshine.
But also,
I can pick apples and visit some lovely Autumn shops ,
take a hike on the far side of the river.
I can enjoy BBQ and the last of the corn for the season
while staying in the moment that is right in front of me.
There is nothing wrong with romanticising your life.
There is nothing wrong with wishing for charming and sweet with
a bit of innocence . There is nothing wrong with turning your back on
a world that wants you so engaged in the divide that you miss out on the beauty
right in front of you.
What happened over the past several years was the trend to stop
enjoying life, you MUST be as miserable as those who can't seem to
realise that they have no control over a lot.
They hate that others can be happy.
Because I suppose we all have to be as miserable as they are.
Truth is, they made the choices that led them to be that unhappy.
They refuse to change or acknowledge they may have been wrong,
so we experience their OUTRAGE like toddlers at everything they hate.
I am here to tell you that you do not need to ever listen to them.
Their attacks on those who want better lives and actually do something
to change it reveal more about them than you.
Do whatever makes you happy.
Life is beautiful.
It truly is.
( especially when it is hard)
I have spent the past season disconnecting from as much as I could .
In my younger era, I could do that easier.
There was not as many distractions but also there was not as many
people in my face screaming at me to do X, Y or Z.
It is intrusive, loud, gaudy and gross.
I wish that younger folks could have the opportunity to
unplug like that.
We lived that life and lived it well.
Imagine not being able to get ahold of someone until the end of the day
when they arrived home to listen to their answering machine messages?
AND before that it was only by chance to get them on the phone at all.
Time was precious, we spent it in the presence of those we loved and who
we created community with.
THAT is what I am adding into my life now.
October seems like the best month to do that.
Visiting shops and having conversations with people
face to face about what affects your town or community OR
just talking about what you all love and are doing at the moment.
I love that.
Seek that which makes your heart happy.
Stop listening to what you *should* be doing by people who
do not care for you at all.

Oh & let us make custard.
I can think of nothing that satisfies the soul
more than this....
Simple custard.
Mommy had custard cups that she used for decades.
I have never been able to find those specific ones.
She would make chocolate & pumpkin and lemon.....
Super easy too, but looks like you spent all day in the kitchen.
We are a hearty lot up here in the NorthEast.
We embrace the weather like it is our jobs, we prep for seasons like it is a sporting event.
Me?
I just picked up this chicken sweater and had my nails done in the newest tread...

Have a splendid day!
